Mt Difficulty Ghost Town Syrah 2022, Bendigo, Central Otago

Very dark core of purple and red with a ruby to pink rim. Aromas of blackcurrant and barrel spices, peppercorn and vanilla, dark plums and sweet new wood then a dried herb quality. Dry and quite intense on the palate with toasty barrel and dark berry flavours all striking at once. Firm yet polished tannins, plenty of acidity, a saline note then stony earth ideas. A big wine with power and presence. Quite lengthy too with best drinking from 2027 through 2035.
